even more Canadian fun

Before heading to Whistler, Danny and I are going to spend a few days in Vancouver. I booked our hotel tonight so everything on our trip is set. Well, everything except for ski clothes. I have a ski-like jacket but Danny and I both need to get some gear. We’re renting our equipment when we get there.

I’ve been to Vancouver a couple of times before but I’m not sure what I want to do once I get there. I’ve heard that the food, especially the Chinese food, is amazing. I should probably just read a guidebook or something.

Ah, election memories I never had

Last week, I asked my mom to try and find me a Kinky Freidman for governor t-shirt. Even though he lost, I can still support the cowboy with an authentic vive le kinky shirt. She is bringing it to me post-haste.

second verse

…same as the first.

Refer to my “old and boring” post from a month ago. At least my neighbors are predictable.

A long day

I’m so tired. I didn’t have a bad day. I just had a very long day. Most of it was self-inflicted, but here’s a bullet list of what I’ve done. No sympathy needed, seriously.

  • Got up at 6:30 am
  • Got to school at 7:30 am
  • Attended networking breakfast until 8:30 am
  • Attended class until 10:30 am
  • Ate lunch, played online and studied until 12:30pm
  • Went to lunchtime speaker at school until 1:30 pm
  • Attended class until 3:30 pm
  • Caught up on email until 4:30 pm
  • Swam and cleaned up until 5:30 pm
  • Got home at 6 pm
  • Ate leftovers while making phone calls until 7:30 pm
  • Went to the store until 8:30 pm
  • Procrastinated until 10 pm
  • Worked on accounting until 11:30 pm
  • Wrote this post until 11:45 pm
  • Went to bed at 12:30 am

tired and tired

Like most other weeks, this one has been busy. I’m staying positive, but I think that’s a side effect of the growing insanity (crazy Crusty the Clown laugh).

I’m pretty stressed. I took one midterm on Tuesday and I have a take-home exam due on Monday. I also have a Microeconomics midterm and a group paper and presentation due on Tuesday. On Wednesday, I have Statistics and Accounting homework due which I guess I’ll have some time to complete on Tuesday night while I’m not out trick-or-treating. It will suck hard until next Thursday, but I’ll be okay. Sure, I’ll be okay.

Danny is helping to keep me sane. We eat dinner together each night and he pops into the bedroom to see how I’m doing. I feel really bad for ignoring him, but at least I’m in the same house. I could be at the library ignoring him from afar. See how generous and thoughtful I am?

I know that everything will work out okay in terms of tests and grades, but my main source of stress is just trying to get all of my homework done. I don’t have time to stress over my tests because I have too much other daily work to deal with. For example, I just spent the last three hours writing and editing my component of a team paper as well as integrating all of the other parts into a cohesive flow of ideas. I really like this kind of work, but it is taking its toll on my body. When I get stressed, my neck aches. I get these terrible knots in my neck and shoulders and exercising and massage are the only things that help. I’ve continued to exercise twice a week, but my workouts are brief and they can’t really diminish the tightness in my neck. Maybe I can do some yoga while I’m waiting for my bus.

I am enjoying school a lot though. The work schedule is hellish but at least the people are cool. As for me, I’m the coolest of them all. Well, except for the movie maker and the crab fisherman. I can’t top those, at least not yet.

sleeping

Danny is asleep. He said he was going to get up but he passed out immediately. I don’t know why I find that so satisfying. Just sleep! What can it hurt?

I have some more accounting and IT homework, but I can work on it while he’s snoozing. I just hate when people force themselves to stay awake when they really just need to nap.

TV? Thumbs up. Homework? Thumbs down.

I’m back from the dead. I’ve gotten lots of sleep this weekend and I’ve managed to be somewhat productive.

Even though I did a lot of homework and reading, I still somehow managed to find time to watch the season premiers of my favorite TV shows (shocking!).

So far:

Heroes - good story with bad acting

The Office - yeah, I love it

Smallville - fun to make fun of

ANTM - so cheesy, so dumb, and so addicting

Veronica Mars - TBD. Our DVR crapped out halfway through the recording so I DON’T FREAKING KNOW THANK YOU COMCAST FOR NOTHING!!!!

*breathe deeply*

Other than that, I’m fine.

in the neighborhood

This is part of the yelling match that just went down in the parking lot outside of our apartment. Just for fun, we’ll call them GB (gangbanger) and SB (stupid bitch).

GB: I didn’t f*cking do nothing!

SB: Yes you f*cking did! You hit me in the eye and then you spit on me.

That’s all I could hear and really, isn’t that enough?

studying with scenery

After sleeping in super late, Danny and I went down to the central Seattle library. Someone in school told me about it and how interesting it was. The building is weird, but in a good way. I would choose to hang out there or meet a friend for coffee. Yes, they have a coffee shop. Anyway, we got there, wandered around for about 20 minutes, and then I settled down to do some homework while Danny went outside to make some phone calls.

There are eleven floors to the library and an underground parking garage. I camped out on the tenth floor. It was really cool. The ceiling is made of glass so obviously there is tons of natural light. It was overcast today so it didn’t heat up. I’m sure they have a great ventilation system, but I prefer the gray sky anyway.

I got most of my accounting homework done before they announced that the library was closing in half an hour. I met up with Danny and we went over to Pike Place Market. The plan was to wander around for a while and find somewhere to eat. I didn’t realize that the market shut down at 6pm, so we got there just as all of the vendors were packing up. I want to go back when everything is in full swing, but at least I got to show Danny the layout of the place before we headed home to order a pizza.

Tomorrow will be a day of studying, laundry, and housework. I might even do a crockpot recipe. I know, I’m wild. Still, cleaning can be therapeutic if there are no time constraints. It can also be a veiled form of procrastination. At least I got a lot of homework done today so I don’t have to totally stress about school stuff tomorrow.

Here’s a pic and a link to the Central Library. I’ll have to go back there again soon.

more tired than usual

This is a short week of school and I’m beat. I think it has more to do with hauling lots of books around campus than actually being beaten down by the work.

School is going well so far. My classmates are smart AND nice. I have lots of reading but that isn’t really an issue yet. Most of it interests me. I might not feel that way by the end of the quarter, but for now I’m excited.

This weekend will involve studying, but also some well-deserved down time.

Danny is doing well but is coping with me being away all day. At least I’m nearby (at school).
