What sucks more? Getting up at 7am on a Saturday, or realizing that on Sunday, you’ll get up a whole hour later than usual because of daylight savings time?
I’m very tired but in a good mood. Danny and I took our engagement pictures today at Stanford. Although we didn’t get up that early (7am) it was still early for a weekend.
Last night, I ran around getting everything I needed for the shoot. I haven’t had any professional photos taken since my senior photo in high school and even that was behind the curtain on the high school stage - not too fancy. For this photo shoot, I put on my wedding dress and posed for an hour doing bridal photos. I know there’s the whole thing about the groom not seeing your dress before the wedding day, but since Danny was there when I bought the dress, there really wasn’t much point in trying to keep it a secret. Plus, I’m not that good with those types of secrets so I’m sure I would have modeled it for him by now anyway.
Despite the constant rain we’ve had for the last month, it didn’t rain on us this morning. It was cold and breezy, but I didn’t freeze. I was having fun. Shopping for three hours last night to get all of the accessories (earrings, bracelet, makeup, hair stuff, flowers, manicure) was stressful but worth it. Danny just had to put on a sweater. Well, he did get a haircut on Thursday and he shaved on a weekend.
After the bridal photos, the plan was for me to get back in the car and change into my outfit for the couple’s pictures. Even though this sounds nearly impossible, my dress is very simple and is not hard to put on or take off. Plus, I had many years of experience changing clothes on a bus for marching band, so having the whole backseat to myself was somewhat luxurious. All I had to do was change out of one sundress into another, check my makeup and switch my jewelry.
During the hour we took our couples photos, the sun came out and it warmed up a bit. More tourists showed up so we had to be more strategic in finding a good, unoccupied backdrop. I had fun with the couples shots and I think Danny was glad to be in the spotlight as opposed to holding my coat and standing behind the photographer. Our photographer was really friendly and tried to make sure we were comfortable and having a good time (or as good a time as you can have when you’re smiling constantly).
We finished at 11 and promptly drove over to Red Lobster to eat. We were both starving and hot, fresh, cheesy biscuits sounded so good.
We got home an hour ago. Danny went back to sleep and I will probably take a nap. I’m in a really good mood. I don’t think things could have been better unless, of course, it was a bit warmer.
The photos will be ready in a week so I can share them then.
